PushPush Arts Pilot Residency Program

PushPush Arts is launching a new residency program designed to support early- to mid-career artists in developing, showing and evolving new work.

Residency Details

  • Duration: 6 weeks

  • Artist Fee: $175 admin fee includes 4 hours of physical support and processing

  • Support Includes: Administrative assistance, development space, and gallery hours (TBD) in our new gallery in downtown College Park on the new PushPush Arts Campus (next to MARTA!)

We’re Looking For

  • Early to mid-career Visual & Performing artists with an existing body of work

  • Atlanta-themed work preferred (but not required)

  • A focus on iterative, evolving work and collaborative spirit (our mission is incubation of original work)

  • Possible Artist Pairings: We are open to and encouraged by selecting two artists to collaborate — one visual artist and one performance artist — working together to build a shared experience (e.g., a gallery show with weekend performances). We’ll provide gallery time and assist in setting weekly open hours (e.g., Thurs/Fri/Sat 10–2).

Participation Process

This pilot program, part of PushPush Arts’ commitment to accessibility and community-led development, operates outside of traditional selection models. While we are not using our open-source SeedWorks process for this pilot, we are maintaining its spirit by focusing on artist alignment rather than competition. Artists who meet a basic set of criteria — including career stage, project readiness, and general fit with PushPush’s mission — will be considered for participation on a first-come, first-reviewed basis. Our small team, made up of working artists from our staff, will review inquiries to ensure the program supports those who will most benefit from this unique opportunity. Up to six artists will be part of this year-long pilot.

Artists interested in the PushPush Mini Residency should meet most of the following guidelines. These are not strict requirements but are meant to help ensure a productive experience for both the artist and the community.

  1. Career Stage: Early to mid-career artists with a demonstrated body of work and up to five public showcases or gallery exhibitions.

  2. Project Readiness: A clearly defined project or work-in-progress that can benefit from space, time, and light support over six weeks.

  3. Artistic Alignment: Work that aligns with PushPush’s mission to support experimentation, collaboration, and process-driven creation.

  4. Atlanta Focus (Preferred): Artists based in or working on themes relevant to Atlanta or the broader Southeast. This is not required but will be prioritized.

  5. Commitment to Growth: A willingness to develop, iterate, and reflect on the work during the residency, with openness to informal community engagement.

  6. Collaborative Spirit: Ability to communicate with PushPush staff and peers respectfully and reliably, and participate in the community ethos of the space.

  7. Basic Availability: Availability during the proposed 6-week period to meaningfully use the space and engage in a public sharing or showing.
